BOLINE STRAND
Care Instructions
A note about the oxidized (blackened) surface finish:
Oxidized patinas change over time, with wear in the high areas that touch the skin or clothing. I am often told by my customers that this gradual process makes the piece even more beautiful and personal. However, I do apply a thin, protective coat of oil or wax to the metal, in order to help preserve the oxidation and to deepen the color.

Matte/brushed sterling silver pieces (not oxidized): When very tarnished, you can wash your pomegranate piece with a soft brush, such as an old toothbrush, and a solution of luke-warm water with a bit of either ammonia or one drop of dish washing detergent.

Place the pomegranate, beads facing down, on a soft, absorbent towel. Gently scrub the silver area with the wetted (tooth-) brush, avoiding getting the bristles into the beaded area. Gently clean the silver with small, circulating movements all over the piece.

The towel will absorb water before it gets into the beaded area, but, should a bit of water still be in there after you are done cleaning the piece, blow air into the beaded area and wipe off the excess water with a soft towel or cloth.

Note: While a quick and efficient cleaning will keep your pomegranate piece beautiful, it is important not to soak the piece or expose it to water and detergents for extended periods of time, as the moisture can erode the threads that hold the beads in place.
